Description:

A fine French Régence period, carved, walnut and needlepoint fauteuil. The rectangular arched padded back and seat covered in close, nailed gros and petite point needlework (not original to the fauteuil), the back with a central strap work cartouche depicting Susanna and the Elders within a landscape with a fountain, against a floral ground, the out scrolled arms above a seat centering a floral cartouche, on foliate carved cabriole legs joined by a carved X-form stretcher ending in hoof feet.
